TWELFTH NIGHT at Oxford Playhouse

12th Night 3

21st – 25th January.

Two worlds collide in this explosive take on Shakespeare’s lyrical Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare, originally commissioned for the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Complete Works Festival.

Olivia’s melancholic, puritanical household clashes head-on with Sir Toby’s insatiable appetite for drunken debauchery. Orsino’s relentless pursuit of Olivia and Malvolio’s extraordinary transformation typify the madness of love in Illyria: land of make-believe and illusion.

In this enormously funny, fast-paced production of Shakespeare’s much-loved comedy, dynamic narrative, witty invention and bursts of music result in a joyous celebration. This is undoubtedly one of the freshest and most acclaimed Shakespeare productions of recent years.
