The Theatre Bath Bus is holding a Cabaret Fundraiser featuring fantastic local talent from across the Bath area. The event will comprise of music, theatre, performance poetry, and comedy. The evening will be hosted by Bath’s favourite “rubber-faced” comedian and star of the Theatre Royal annual pantomimes, Jon Monie.
The performance line-up includes Toby Thompson, an acclaimed performance poet who has performed at the Roundhouse Theatre in Camden, the RSC, and Battersea Arts Centre, Ed Browning a Bath-based actor, who currently portrays ‘Paul Daniel’ in BBC’s Poldark. A performances from the cast of ‘BUSK’, a brand-new musical from local production company Music Is Life Productions which will have its world premiere at the Rondo Theatre in May. Firm Bath favourites Bath Light Operatic Group will be performing a selection of songs from their forthcoming album.
Other performers include the haunting music of Chloe Tyghe and Guillem Mitchel. Winner of Hayesfield’s Got Talent 2017, Maisy Wheatley. Jane McLeod Performance Poet. Andy Burden, director of Bath’s acclaimed Natural Theatre Company. Apricity Theatre Company will perform their latest show. Students from the Bath School of Acting showcasing stage combat and acting work. Local theatre company Oooh Arrr Productions Ltd will perform.
The event will raise funds for the Theatre Bath Bus, a mobile creative space that aims to support local artists and communities. The Theatre Bath Bus was a standard single decker bus that was transformed into an intimate, high quality 24 bench-seat auditorium with built in stage, dressing room, box office and even a bar area. It is an extremely versatile space, and can be used for a diverse range of projects which include; theatre, mobile cinema, workshops, comedy, music, seminars and party spot.
Zoe Bailey, creator of the Theatre Bath Bus said: “We are really excited have such incredible local talent performing at our Cabaret Fundraiser. These performers have all agreed to donate their time and we are very grateful to them.
The Theatre Bath Bus exists to bring the arts to everyone; offering a unique, unintimidating, accessible venue for artists and organisations to use. This event will help us continue to do so.”
Luke John Emmett, creator, states: “The bus is funded entirely by donations and the community in and around Bath. We have big plans to help support local artists including appearing at the Bath Comedy Festival, Bath Fringe Festival and Edinburgh Fringe Festival. These are all expensive pursuits and we want to try and keep the costs down for the end users. By coming along and helping to raise funds at events like this one you are enabling us to decrease costs for members of the community in and around Bath so that they can use the bus.”
