17 – 18 September

Joe Sellman-Leava and Dylan Howells embark on a quest to uncover how the economy wins elections and why the force that dominates our lives is so bloody complicated!

Taking its title from James Carville (who successfully framed the 1992 American Presidential election around the recession), It’s the Economy, Stupid! will be underpinned by storytelling and auto fiction, with deviser-performers Joe and Dylan seeking to understand their own financial and economic (il)literacy.

Worklight Theatre’s new show explores the weaponisation of economics – especially in politics – and asks why most of us don’t fully understand the social science which so profoundly affects our lives.

Armed with boxes, bags and an old board game, Joe and Dylan calculate how their lives have been shaped by the economies they grew up in.

Developed with and directed by internationally acclaimed Katharina Reinthaller, and produced by Worklight Theatre, It’s the Economy, Stupid! is a bold new show from the Fringe First winning creators of Labels and Fanboy.
