17th March 2020 – A Statement from the Wardrobe.
Next year is our 10th anniversary. The Wardrobe Theatre was created in 2011 by artists, for artists and has never received any regular funding. We rely utterly on ticket sales to cover all our costs, with the majority of income going to the incredible artists, theatre-makers and companies who perform here.
If you have a ticket to a performance that has been cancelled you will be contacted soon and asked to exchange tickets for a rescheduled performance, to have credit put against your name to use for a future show here, or offered a refund – however, we ask you to please consider turning your purchased ticket into a donation for these reasons: Whilst we are closed, we want to support and honour agreements with the artists and companies whose shows we had coming up, freelancers who are suddenly losing all their income for foreseeable future. We have a page on our website for donations and any money received will be shared between the artists and the theatre to ensure there still is a Wardrobe Theatre post coronavirus. If you are in a position to donate, please do.
We will post updates with more information as we have it and aim to be open again as soon as possible. Arts and culture is in a desperate situation. Please look after yourselves and each other everyone! Will we get through this.
Lots of love – Matthew, Chris, Bebhinn, Aisha and Jesse – The Wardrobe Theatre
