Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we closed our doors on 17th March and paused all shows and events. The health and well-being of our community is our highest priority and so we will only reopen our theatre once it is safe to do so.
Most of our staff are now on furloughed leave, enabling us to access crucial government support, and we’re operating with a small skeleton team. We’re working hard to reschedule as many performances as possible, contacting all ticket holders as we do so, and we thank you for your patience.
Next year we had hoped to celebrate our 20th birthday. However right now – with both our theatres closed and no audiences visiting – we are fighting to keep the organisation afloat.
Tobacco Factory Theatres is a registered charity and we rely on just 5% public funding; the vast majority of our annual income comes through ticket sales and bar purchases. We are incredibly proud that you – our loyal audiences – support so much of the work we do for communities across Bristol. Unfortunately this badge of pride is now our greatest threat, making us extremely vulnerable and putting the future of Tobacco Factory Theatres at risk.
When this crisis is over we want Tobacco Factory Theatres to continue to be a welcoming home for creative adventures and human connection. We want everybody to be able to experience the life-changing power of the arts and we want to continue presenting innovative and entertaining shows for all ages.
