10 – 12 November 2025
Dyad Productions are set to make a welcome return to the Elizabethan era and to Bath’s Ustinov Studio when they stage, That Knave, Raleigh. Appearing from Monday 10 to Wednesday 12 November for a run of three performances, the production takes audiences on a journey through the astonishing highs and lows of one of Britain’s most famous historical figures, Elizabethan explorer, sailor, dandy and warrior, Sir Walter Raleigh; Knave to James I.
Father, husband, writer, poet, adventurer, philosopher, soldier, tyrant, egotist, lover, traitor, alchemist, visionary, victim.
In a life spanning 65 years, Sir Walter Raleigh achieved many things, but the final chapter of his life is perhaps the most daring, strange and utterly heart-breaking. Audiences will see the fall from grace taken directly from historical record and marvel at the magnetism of a man who seized every opportunity to create a legacy which spans the centuries.
Created in collaboration with The Old Town Hall, Hemel Hempstead, That Knave, Raleigh is written and performed by Andrew Margerison (Frantic Assembly’s Fatherland, Macbeth) and directed by Rebecca Vaughan (A Christmas Carol) who return to Bath after previous Dyad Productions performances which include Austen’s Women: Lady Susan and A Room of One’s Own.
THAT KNAVE, RALEIGH appears at the Ustinov Studio from Monday 10 to Wednesday 12 November. Tickets for all performances at the Ustinov Studio are on sale now at Theatre Royal Bath Box Office on 01225 448844 and online at theatreroyal.org.uk
