★★★★☆ Any movement in a piece such as this cannot be there purely for the sake of looking good, it must be justified within the story being told . . . to a simple, rock ‘n’ roll song manages to create a good balance of narrative and beauty. Pieces such as this are a real joy to experience, and I would certainly recommend it to anyone interested in dance.

★★★☆☆ DNA is certainly not an easy play. Filled with contemporary language it may appear easy, but tackling those characters is a difficult task. Although many elements of the piece were not perfect, the ensemble effort is impressive and everyone involved has created a production to be proud of.

★★★★★ With a strong story, incredible performances, and creative playfulness on a shoestring, Napoleon Disrobed is not to be missed. It is one of the best things I’ve seen at The REP and sets the bar for other comedic work. Given that Told By An Idiot have been creating this kind of theatre for twenty-five years, they have established a particular style that I long to see more of.

★★★★☆ The story comes from Noël Coward’s 1936 one-act play Still Life, and revolves around an affair between a doctor and a house wife. After meeting by chance as strangers at a train station, their relationship begins to build as their love for one another blossoms into a powerful romance.

★★★☆☆ The mixture of humour and brutal honesty created some inspired moments that stood out, and showed the strength of their creative vision. Using a coffin as a centrepiece that functioned as storage and a versatile prop itself, seeing what would appear next or how it would be contorted was rather intriguing.
