13 – 17 September

Thomas has just finished auditions for his adaptation of Venus in Furs, an erotic 19th Century novel.

When enigmatic actress Vanda arrives several hours late – and unannounced – to audition, Thomas is less than impressed. But Vanda’s determined to land the leading role and her masterful performance flips the script on Thomas’ expectations and turns the session into a steamy tango for dominance between actress and director, woman and man.

Hailed as “seriously smart and very funny” by The New York Times, David Ives’ Venus in Fur is a laugh-out-loud study of the politics of sex and power.

This is the Alma’s in house company’s TENTH production.  Schoolhouse Productions have gone from strength to strength bringing intimate modern classics to the Alma stage.  This is their first production to be directed by Ben Nash, one of this years’ graduates from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School’s Directing MA.
