★★☆☆☆ Adapted from Peter James’ novel of the same name, the leads provide a sympathetic and an engaging anchor for the supernatural drama, but they sadly can’t compensate for some misconceptions on how horror works on stage.

★★★☆☆ As a chirpy musical Fly Eddie Fly certainly endeared itself to the audience. Supplemented in parts by the Company and members of the Everyman’s Youth Theatre, most of the musical heavy-lifting was performed by Nik Howden as Eddie and Becks Grant-Jones as his mother.

★★★★☆ A lot of effort has gone into the minutiae of the characters and making their travails believable and relatable. Meghan Treadway (Elena) and Jamie Wilkes (Nick) give incredibly naturalised performances, steadily peeling away their unease at this reunion, and oscillating between overexposing their emotions and hastily trying to recover themselves.

BRB is presenting a pair of new performances aimed at entertaining the whole family. It’s an appealing set-up that intends to satisfy established ballet fans and introduce newcomers to the merits of the art form. ★★★★☆ A less frequently performed opera of Verdi, Macbeth never reaching the iconic status of his much later cracks at Shakespeare, Falstaff and Otello. The piece has a very different feel to those operas but ETO prove that it is a piece of many virtues that deserves to be brought to audiences more often.
