★★★★☆ This Uncle Vanya is ravishing to look at, strikingly contemporary in its central theme, and frequently very moving.  Ivan Voynitsky, ‘Uncle Vanya’, is a part that Rupert Everett had long wished to tackle, and he saw that the best way to achieve that ambition would be to direct the play himself. 

★★★★★ Is this revival of Blithe Spirit sufficiently engaging to make us to forget the B-word for a couple of hours? It most certainly is.  From the moment the curtain rises on Anthony Ward’s magnificent set, there is a sense that we are in good hands . . . Blithe Spirit may just be escapist fun, but it offers fun of the highest quality.  

 ★★★★☆  Willy Russell’s play is fast approaching its fortieth birthday.  Back in 1980 this exceptionally witty two-hander made some trenchant observations about education and social class.  A lot has changed since then, both in academia and in society in general
